In der DOWNRIVER – Tour kämpfen die Tänzer:innen gegen den Strom. Zusammen mit dem Publikum als Weggefährt:innen nehmen sie Asphalt, Steine und Gras unter die Füsse, scheuen das Wasser nicht und erobern sinnlich, dynamisch den Fluss. Die Zuschauenden erleben mit den Tänzer:innen die Kraft und Widerstandsfähigkeit einer Gruppe, die sich gegen den Strom stemmt. Aber auch das Loslassen jeder:s Einzelnen, die/der den Widerstand aufgibt, sich mitreissen und treiben lässt, dem Strom nicht standhaltend scheitert. Dieses Scheitern löst einerseits Nach- und Aufgeben, Angst und Panik aus und hinterlässt Angeschwemmte, Gestrandete. Andererseits entsteht wohlige Hingabe an die Kraft des Flusses. Das Wasser ist das Symbol des Lebens und hat seit jeher und in vielen Kulturen mythische Bedeutung. Leonardo da Vinci nannte es ‘das Blut des Planeten’.
DOWNRIVER führt ein sich fortbewegendes Publikum entlang eines Flusses. Dabei werden Fortbewegungsstrategien und -instinkte unter die Lupe genommen und erfahrbar gemacht. Die Zuschauenden machen sich zusammen mit den Tänzer:innen den Weg zum Ziel und ergründen unsere ’condition humaine’. Die Tour-TeilnehmerInnen sind sowohl Publikum als auch aktive Weggefährt:innen. In the DOWNRIVER tour, the dancers fight against the current. Together with the audience as their companions, they take asphalt, stones and grass under their feet, do not shy away from the water and conquer the river in a sensual, dynamic way. Together with the dancers, the audience experiences the strength and resilience of a group that braces itself against the current. But also the letting go of each individual who gives up resistance, who allows him/herself to be swept along and carried away, who fails by not being able to withstand the current. On the one hand, this failure triggers giving in and giving up, fear and panic, and leaves behind the washed up, the stranded. On the other hand, there is a pleasant surrender to the power of the river. Water is the symbol of life and has always had mythical significance in many cultures. Leonardo da Vinci called it ’the blood of the planet’.
DOWNRIVER leads a moving audience along a river or a lake. Survival strategies and instincts of locomotion are examined and made tangible. Together with the dancers, the audience makes its way to the destination and explores our ‘condition humaine’. You as a tour participants are both: audience and active companions.
